San Francisco police are offering a $50,000 reward to anyone with information who can help the department solve the killing of a 16-year-old who was shot in the city's Bayview District last month.
The San Francisco Police Department on Tuesday said it would give $50,000 for information that would allow police to identify, arrest and, ultimately, convict the person – or people – who killed Jaedah Tofaeono.
Tofaeono and a 45-year-old woman were shot on Bertha Lane at around 6:45 p.m. on July 30. The older woman, whom Tofaeono’s family later said was the girl’s aunt, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, but Tofaeono died of her injuries at a nearby hospital.
James Tofaeono, Jaedah's father, said in a press conference at City Hall earlier this month that he had forgiven his daughter’s killer and wanted them to step forward.
"We have no hate, no grudges," James Tofaeno said on Aug. 5. "We are not looking for retaliation. The only justice we are seeking is peace."
San Francisco police encouraged anyone with information to come forward and contact Sgt. Francis Graves by calling 1-415-553-9099 during business hours, the department’s all-day tip line or 1-415-575-4444 or by texting TIP411 and opening the text message with "SFPD."
