SF man arrested in connection with fatal Mission District assault

San Francisco police have arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly assault in the Mission District.

Asafo la, 32, of San Francisco, was arrested on Oct. 4 after homicide detectives "developed information that identified him" as the suspect in a Mission District murder.

On the evening of Sept. 28, la allegedly approached the victim in the area of Treat Wy. and Kamille Ct. and punched him in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died due to traumatic injuries.

La surrendered himself to SFPD and was subsequently booked at San Francisco County Jail on one count of murder as well as one count of failure to register as a sex offender.

Despite the arrest, police stated that this investigation will remain open. Anyone with information is asked to contact 425-575-4444.
