A man is back in a San Francisco County Jail following two separate court hearings on Friday, and police allege he attacked two people in both cases.
The San Francisco Police Department arrested Javon Knighten, 27, on Tuesday after he allegedly pushed a 66-year-old woman to the ground on the 100 block of Mission Street before stabbing a 31-year-old woman who confronted him, believing him to have robbed the elderly woman. In a Thursday afternoon news release, police said Knighten had an outstanding warrant from a February incident near the same location. Knighten was wanted for misdemeanor battery charges, according to San Francisco Sheriff's Office records.

In the first case, Knighten was booked on two felony charges of assault with force likely to commit bodily injury, felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony attempted murder and misdemeanor resisting a police officer. In the second, he was booked on the aforementioned battery charges.
Knighten was in court Friday morning for hearings in both cases at the San Francisco Hall of Justice, according to court records.
The 31-year-old woman saw Knighten approach and push the elderly woman just after 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, according to police. Knighten didn’t rob the older woman, police said, but the 31-year-old woman followed him believing he had. A person then flagged a police officer to a stabbing at Mission and Steuart streets.
Police said the 31-year-old woman sustained multiple stab wounds, and she was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Knighten was found nearby, and police said he and an officer sustained injuries after he "physically resisted" officers who "attempted to detain" him. Police didn’t specify the manner in which Knighten or the officer was injured, only to say they were "medically treated" at a nearby hospital with "non-life-threatening injuries."
The 27-year-old was booked at 8:38 p.m. on Tuesday, according to sheriff’s office records. Knighten will next appear in court on Nov. 2 in both cases, with a Nov. 10 hearing relating to Tuesday's arrest.
