After suffering a traumatic head injury, a San Francisco elementary school principal died on Thursday.
Heath Caceres, the principal at New Traditions Elementary School, passed away on last Thursday surrounded by family after spending a week in an intensive care unit in Modesto.
According to a GoFundMe created to help the family with medical expenses, Caceres was on a family camping trip when he suffered an accidental head injury. "Heath was a devoted husband to his wife Mariah, a loving son to Mila, and an amazing parent to their four daughters - Kai, Luca, Ava, and Chloe," the fundraiser said.
In an email sent out to the school community, New Traditions offered additional support for students at the beginning of the year, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
"Death can be difficult for us to understand, especially when it is sudden," the email explained. "What is most important is that we care for and support each other."
