Farmworkers have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

That’s part of the reason a caravan of people headed from San Jose to Hollister on Saturday to drop off food and show support for those who work in the fields.

People got ready to hop in their cars and head down to Hollister, as the mariachi band played in the background.

"These farmworkers are out there working every single day of the year," said Darlene, who organized the caravan. "They’re out there during wildfires, during the pandemic."

They partnered with Mission Food Hub to bring 1,000 boxes of food to the workers, she told KCBS Radio.

Dennis volunteered to drive.

“I grew up in the Midwest in a farming community and I understand the value that farmworkers bring, bringing food to the table," he said. "It’s hard work and they’re very underappreciated."
