San Jose fire officials asked residents to shelter in place Friday afternoon, as crews responded to reports of an ammonia spill.
The San Jose Fire Department said a HAZMAT team responded to a building on the 400 block of Eggo Way on reports of an ammonia spill around 4 p.m. Friday.
Employees in the building were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
All nearby residents were asked to remain indoors and shelter in place while crews cleared the spill.
Access to Eggo Way at E. Julian and Wooster Ave remained closed as of 5 p.m. Friday.
