Edward Holmes, 30, of Daly City was picked up from a San Mateo shopping center, Bridgepointe Shopping Center, on Wednesday afternoon at around 3:45 p.m. by a 23-year-old female rideshare driver.

The ride started, and as they traveled northbound on Highway 101 towards Holmes' destination, Holmes brought up sex to the driver, despite her protests.

He then exposed himself and began masturbating. The driver quickly noticed and took the first exit she could, Dore Avenue, and told him to get out of her car.

He did, asking one more time if she wanted to see his genitals.

According to the press release, officers arrived at the scene just before 4 p.m. at the 300 block of N Kingston Street.

The officers managed to find Holmes at a nearby intersection and arrested him after the victim was able to identify him. He was searched, and officers found a 5-inch steak knife concealed in the right pocket of Holmes' shorts. The blade on the knife was approximately 5 inches long.

He has since been charged with indecent exposure and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.

Holmes is currently being held in San Mateo County Jail.
