One section of the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light rail track will shut down for a couple of weeks for routine maintenance.
Starting Thursday, Feb. 17 through March 4 crews are replacing tracks along North First between East Hedding and I-880, a junction known as the Younger "Half Grand" where trains enter and leave the Guadalupe Yard maintenance facility, according to the VTA.

The North First Street and East Hedding Street intersection will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians during the construction. The tracks being replaced date back to the system's original construction from the 1980s, VTA officials said.
Riders will be able to take bus shuttles between the Gish and Civic Center stations during the closure but should expect delays, according to the VTA. The agency will have a modified light rail and bus schedule during the planned maintenance.
Crews will be installing a perimeter fence to try to dampen noise from the track replacement, which will include jackhammering and work done at night.
