Less than a week after becoming the first theme park in California to partially reopen with rides, the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has to change course as Santa Cruz County was moved back to the state's more restrictive red tier.

They had only been back open since November 7.

Rides had been exclusive to Santa Cruz County residents under the state's guidelines for theme park reopenings.

Now, no one will get to use them or play mini-golf at the Boardwalk. Bowling will be closed starting Saturday. Outdoor games, food, shopping and Boardwalk Racers remain open. Those who had made ride reservations will be refunded.

The Boardwalk has completed their drive-in movies for the summer and fall, but will offer Nutcracker drive-in movie showings beginning December 18.
