Officials are investigating the cause of a fire at a Santa Rosa gas station that suffocated the surrounding neighborhood with black smoke on Friday.
At a Union 76 gas station at 3230 Coffey Ln., a fire flared up around 4 p.m. fire officials said.

After 10 minutes of fire fight involving four engines, one ladder truck, one battalion chief and one fire investigator, Santa Rosa firefighters had the blaze contained and overhaul completed.
Officials believed that the fire started in a nearby storage shed containing gas station goods due to electrical issues, however, this has not been confirmed.
Pacific Gas and Electrical workers secured power in the area after live power lines were taken down during the fire.
The Union 76 station did not sustain interior damage, but the outside and the storage shed were badly burned, causing $50,000 in damage.
