The missing person report for 27-year-old Michael Odell was originally filed to East Bay Regional Parks and passed to the California Highway Patrol. CHP Public Information Officer Kylie Musselman told KCBS Radio that the agency is not authorized to speak about the investigation and could not provide any details at this time, but did confirm they are continuing the search along with other allied agencies.

A friend of Odell named Joshua Paredes told KNTV that the traveling nurse was last seen during an overnight shift at Stanford Hospital on Jan. 18. Paredes said that Odell left work "abruptly" and never returned.

Investigators told Paredes that there is video of Odell's car leaving a Stanford parking lot at approximately 4:30 a.m., but it's unclear if he was the person behind the wheel.

After not hearing from him for several hours, Paredes told the station that he checked Odell's phone location, which was at Dumbarton Bridge in the eastbound lanes, approaching Fremont. That was Odell's last known location.

Paredes contacted the police and he, along with other friends and co-workers, spent Tuesday searching the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

"He seemed great, nothing makes sense," Paredes told the outlet. "He loved his job, loved his resources at Stanford."

Fremont police told KCBS Radio that they are not currently involved in the situation, but they have offered any assistance to their partnering agencies if needed. They did acknowledge that Odell went missing in Fremont, but had no other information.

Odell was last seen wearing gray scrubs. He has hazel eyes, short brown hair, approximately 5-foot-11 and 150 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to call Joshua at 918-210-4691 or Michael at 918-312-0377.
