SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – South San Francisco police have arrested a man in connection with multiple unlocked car thefts in the Sunshine Gardens neighborhood.

On July 13, multiple people reported a man walking around the neighborhood at 2:30 a.m. checking the door handles of cars to see if they were unlocked, police said. Vincent Gaxiola was in the area and matched the description from the callers. He was also identified on multiple video cameras.

Two victims filed a citizen's arrest against Gaxiola. He was searched and many stolen items were found, including clothes, keys to both cars and residences, binoculars a golf range finder and a garage door opener, officers reported.

He was arrested for several theft and drug-related charges and booked in the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City, police said.
