Authorities identify teen who died in SoMa alley, death ruled as 'suspicious'

A teenager whose death was declared "suspicious" after being found in an alley in San Francisco's South of Market on Friday has been identified.

The city's medical examiner revealed Tuesday that the victim was Victorria Moran-Hidalgo, a 16-year-old girl from Stanislaus County.

Feb. 18 at 6:33 a.m., authorities responded to the 600 block of Minna Street to assist paramedics with a "possible overdose," according to a release. They arrived on the scene to find a 16-year-old girl dead.

The medical examiner declared the death "suspicious," prompting an investigation by San Francisco police's homicide unit.

No other information was available.
