San Francisco Mayor London Breed announced Sunday that the city’s Moscone Center and City College COVID-19 vaccination sites will have to temporarily pause operations due to a lack of supply.

“SF is averaging over 7,000 vaccines administered per day, but supply from the state and federal gov't isn't keeping up,” the mayor tweeted.

Officials said that as of Saturday, San Francisco had used up 72.4 percent of its vaccines, and the remaining doses were set aside for scheduled first appointments and scheduled second shots.

Operations at the Moscone Center are expected to be stopped for one week.

Breed said that vaccinations will resume at the center as supply increases.

“CCSF will resume Friday for only second doses until supply increases,” she said.

According to the mayor, no existing appointments will be canceled. Officials said appointments will only be released for booking once vaccine supply is confirmed.

The city has the capacity to administer more than 10,000 vaccines per day, but lacks the vaccine supply, according to officials.

Breed tweeted that she’s hoping for more information in the next few days.
