A shooting involving two cars just outside the Caldecott Tunnel caused a large backup in the East Bay during rush hour traffic on Thursday afternoon.
The shooting occurred around 4:00 p.m. on eastbound Highway 24 between people in a BMW and Infiniti who were reportedly racing across the Bay Bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The suspect in the BMW allegedly shot into the other car, however nobody was hit.
An investigation into the incident caused authorities to close the right bore of Highway 24, which caused a backup on Interstate 580 and northbound Highway 13. All lanes and bores reopened just before 6:00 p.m., however heavy traffic continued in the area.
Additional information about the shooting was not immediately available.
