Officer-involved shooting on Market Street injures one, causes transit delays

UPDATE 12:00 p.m.: San Francisco police confirm it is investigating an officer-involved shooting at the Powell Street BART station.

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – San Francisco police are actively investigating a shooting near the Powell Street BART and Muni station that happened late Friday morning.

San Francisco Fire Department Captain Justin Shore told KCBS Radio’s Holly Quan the shooting happened at around 10:30 a.m. on Market Street between 4th Street and 5th Street.

One victim was treated by San Francisco paramedics and taken to San Francisco General Hospital in stable condition.

It is not clear if the police know who the suspect is or where that suspect went.

The crime scene is impacting travelers on BART, Muni, and the cable cars – with transit either bypassing the Powell Street stop or avoiding the area.

The public is being asked to stay away from the crime scene while police continue to investigate.
