A single-engine plane crashed on top of an Auburn home on Wednesday, leading to an investigation by federal officials.
Officers received a report at approximately 3 p.m. of "suspicious circumstances" at the 3000 block of Miracle Drive, the Placer County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies arrived on the scene to find a single-engine Cessna 172 plane had collided into the top of the residence.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported the crash occurred near the Auburn Municipal Airport.
Cal Fire administered medical aid to the pilot, the sole occupant of the aircraft, before the subject was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. Officials have not released any information about the pilot’s condition.
The homeowners were "fortunately" uninjured, the sheriff's office said.
The National Transportation Safety Board and The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an investigation into the crash, according to the paper.
