A small group gathered outside of San Francisco Mayor London Breed’s home early Sunday afternoon, chanting "Save San Francisco," and demanding the reopening of the city.
One man held a pitchfork, others held signs.
The individuals are rallying against the shelter-in-place orders in effect in the city amidst the most deadly surge in the COVID-19 pandemic that the state has seen thus far. Business owners have done the same in other parts of the state.
The county, among many in the Bay Area, has opted in to the state's regional stay-at-home order.
As of Friday, San Francisco had 13% of ICU beds available, and only 7% of those for acute care. This is below the 15% ICU capacity threshold for state-mandated strict shelter-in-place orders.
