"I think it's extremely important for humans and I really do believe that you get more creative when you have interaction with other people, and that is much better in person," Delaine Eastin told KCBS Radio.

Eastin was the former State Superintendent of Public Instruction and former Executive Director of the National Institute for School Leadership, she said there is a place for virtual learning but teamwork is a part of education.

"You can play virtual football, but it's not the same as being on the team or virtual baseball or virtual any team sport and I would call education really is a team sport," she explained. "It's about people building on one another ideas and about them sharing and about them finding common ground."

She believes that working together with others helps everyone individually by making eye contact and the presence of everyone's personality in a collaborative conversation.

With a return to in-person learning face coverings will be mandatory while indoors on campus and at some schools medical-grade N95, KN95 or KN94 masks are suggested or required.
