Makenzie and her mother were seen at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning, walking eastbound on Highway 12 towards the Santa Rosa city limits. A sheriff's office spokesperson told KCBS Radio that a caller told the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety they had seen the Privitts near the Copeland Creek Trail.

Rohnert park officers then located Makenzie and Shelby Privitt at 3:31 p.m., according to the spokesperson, notifying sheriff's officials soon after.

The spokesperson said the sheriff's office is still investigating the alleged kidnapping.
