Stern Grove and Pine Lake Park have been closed until further notice due to a water main break, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department reported.
On Monday, San Francisco residents flooded Twitter with videos and images of water gushing uncontrollably on Sloat Blvd. from a burst pipe.
The geyser of water shot multiple feet in the air as crews from the city’s Public Works department and Public Utilities Commission worked to remedy the problem.
Stern Grove and Pine Lake, which were directly affected by the water, will remain closed for the foreseeable future until officials are able to safely reopen the area.
It is not yet known whether the closure will affect the concert scheduled for Sunday at Stern Grove featuring Tower of Power and Too $hort.
On Aug. 23, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission tweeted that crews were performing regular maintenance work on a large pipeline at 22nd Ave. and Sloat Blvd.
While working, they reported that a "temporary water service interruption" had occurred, but did not mention a burst water main.
It is not clear whether the work done by the SFPUC and the rupture were related. The SFPUC did not immediately respond to the SF Chronicle’s request for comment.
