A body board ran into a rock and submerged underwater this evening near Fort Point, leaving a surfer unconscious.
Two other local surfers, one of whom is an off-duty paramedic, rescued the unconscious surfer and performed CPR in the water before handing the individual off to the paramedics.
Jonathan Baxter with the San Francisco Fire Department told KCBS Radio the two performed a "heroic rescue in the danger zone area, putting their lives at risk to rescue this individual."
The surfer was transported to a local hospital with shock trauma.
