San Francisco police have arrested a suspect after an elderly Asian American woman was stabbed on Wednesday in the city's Tenderloin neighborhood.
Police said that at about 10:15 a.m., officers arrived to the 800 block of Post St. to find a 94-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive, police said.
Investigators were able to identify the suspect, 35-year-old Daniel Cauich, from a photograph. Officers found Cauich around 11:45 a.m. on Clay St. and arrested him without incident.
Investigators also located a knife near the crime scene they believed was used in the stabbing.
Cauich was booked on charges of battery with serious injury, elder abuse, committing a felony while on bail or release, and attempted homicide. Investigators are working to determine whether the unprovoked attack was motivated by race.
