A suspect has been hospitalized with unknown injuries following a shooting and subsequent suicide attempt at a school late Monday in Pleasant Hill.
The incident happened just after 6:30 p.m. Police responded to reports of a man with a gun, reportedly near Pleasant Hill Elementary School.
When officers arrived, police saw a vehicle leaving the scene. In trying to conduct a traffic stop, "the person began shooting at the officers," according to a police statement posted to Facebook. The suspect then drove to the nearby school, where he attempted suicide with the firearm in question.
He was taken to a hospital for his injuries. No one else was hurt.
There is no in-person learning at the school at this time.
The incident remains under investigation.
