Suspects raid Louis Vuitton store in Palo Alto, make off with $100K in merchandise

A group of suspects ran a coordinated raid on the Louis Vuitton store at Stanford Shopping Center during business hours and made off with more than $100,000 dollars in merchandise.

Palo Alto Police said on Monday around 5:30 p.m., the 11 suspects grabbed 36 handbags, exited the store quickly and fled the mall in five vehicles before police could arrive.

The vehicles were a gray Lexus sedan, a gray Infinity SUV, a white Audi sedan, a black four-door Hyundai sedan, and a red two-door Honda sedan.

Police said that nobody was injured and no weapons were used in the theft.

Witnesses said the suspects were both male and female who all wore face coverings.

Police said they are investigating whether or not there is a link between this group and similar thefts at the Neiman Marcus store at Stanford Shopping Center and the Saks 5th Avenue store in San Francisco, both of which occurred in mid-May. While this case is similar to that of the Neiman Marcus theft, police said the vehicles used in each incident were different.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Palo Alto Police at the 24-hour dispatch center at (650) 329-2413, or with e-mailed tips to paloalto@tipnow.org.
