Police in San Francisco have reopened an area of Dolores Street by Mission Dolores Park that was closed due to a suspicious device Monday morning, according to authorities.
Police said officers responded to the 600 block of Dolores Street near Cumberland Street at approximately 10:12 a.m. regarding a suspicious device. Arriving officers established a perimeter at the scene blocking off vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area as they conducted the investigation.
Due to the nature of the open investigation, a description of the device has not been made available.
At around 11:51 a.m., officials deemed the surrounding safe, and cleared off all units and equipment, according to San Francisco Police Public Information Officer Robert Rueca.
The streets reopened soon after.
"Every case like this we have to investigate in the safest way, we have to assume that it is something that can pose a threat not only to officers, but also the neighborhood," said Rueca.
Authorities cannot disclose any information regarding the nature of the device or the intended target in the neighborhood, said Rueca.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious is asked to call the police as soon as possible.
