A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking across I-680 in San Ramon early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred in the southbound lanes of I-680 just north of Bollinger Canyon Rd. at 12:55 a.m. The woman, whose identity has not been released, was struck by an SUV as she was walking from the right hand shoulder to the center divider. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV driver remained on scene when officers arrived. Lanes were briefly shut down while authorities investigated the situation.
