
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – Preliminary results for the 2022 mayoral elections in San Jose and Oakland are coming in, according to Santa Clara and Alameda counties.

With nearly 91% of precincts reporting, Matt Mahan – an executive for companies that make mobile apps and a city councilmember – was in the lead (51.69%) to become San Jose’s mayor. His opponent Cindy Chavez, a former vice mayor had 48.24%.
In Oakland, councilmember Loren Taylor was in the lead with 34.96% of the vote as all 99 precincts reported votes. His fellow councilmember Sheng Thao was close behind with 29% and there were multiple other candidates.
