From casual recreational leagues to pricey private coaching, youth sports play a big part in growing up. But how much is too much time, risk of injury and investment? Have we crossed a line trying to get young athletes across the finish line?

KCBS All News Radio explored the risks and rewards of youth sports all week, culminating with a special town hall on Thursday. Listen below.

“The State of Play” was moderated by KCBS morning news anchor emeritus Stan Bunger. Panelists include Nirav Pandya, MD, UCSF pediatric orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist; Joe Shashky, 95.7 The Game sports talk radio host; Jess Smith, Head of Revenue for Angel City FC, and Khali Blackman-Newton, Positive Coaching Alliance Director of Community Engagement, Northern California.

This event is sponsored by UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals, helping young athletes bounce back sooner.
