A 21st birthday party went horribly wrong in Oakland after the group’s party bus was shot on a freeway, resulting in two deaths.
It started just after midnight when someone opened fire on the bus while it was traveling on I-580 east near the Seminary Ave. off ramp and continued as the bus made its way off the freeway and onto Foothill Blvd and 68th Ave.
The bus was able to make its way to the Eastmont Police Substation in Oakland riddled with around two dozen bullet holes and several windows smashed.
Two people died and several others were injured. Officials were not able to provide immediate information about the victims.
“There’s limited information on this event, but it does not appear to be random,” said CHP officer Edgar Vega.
East Oakland resident Pettie Brown told KCBS Radio that he was dismayed by the extreme violence.
“I’m flabbergasted. And whatever’s going on, we can find another way to get along than just killing one another.”
The CHP is asking anyone with information on the party bus shooting to call the CHP tipline at 707-917-4491.
