A treasure hunt is on in Santa Cruz after a box with $1,000 was hidden in the woods.
The organizers who hid the $1,000 cash prize created an Instagram under the handle @TheOfficialTreasureHunt.
They released their first clue on Thursday, posting a picture with the caption "A place fit for a Queen, can you smell what he's cooking?"
A hint was given with the post, explaining that the clue will "tell you which state park the box is hidden in!"
Treasure hunt creators Brendan Ruh and Joe Rattay say they created the quest to "give the public an opportunity to follow clues, get outside, and discover real life treasure."
They wanted to transform the fantasy of finding buried treasure into a reality.
Ruh and Rattay remind the public in a set of rules that:
"The treasure is located on public property. Do not trespass on private property."
"Stay safe! Never put yourself in danger while on the hunt."
"Leave the forest cleaner than when you entered it."
"It is fire season, no smoking or any nonsense."
"If you are found cheating you will be disqualified."
