This question has been getting a lot of attention since President Joe Biden's statement on Sunday, declaring the pandemic to be over.

In a 60 Minutes broadcast, Biden made the declaration. "We still have a problem with COVID. We're still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over," he said. "If you notice, no one's wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it's changing."

However, many disease experts believe the real focus should be on the possibility that COVID-19 will remain a leading cause of death for the foreseeable future.

For more, KCBS Radio news anchor Melissa Culross spoke with Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Regional Campuses at UCSF, on "Ask An Expert."
