Most San Franciscans are aware of the stereotype associated with the Marina District – that those who live and spend time there are often transplants working in the tech industry.

While it's frequently joked about, one local in particular is fed up.
As first reported last week by SFGATE contributor Stuart Schuffman on Instagram, who goes by Broke-Ass Stuart on social media, someone has put up flyers in the city to voice their displeasure with the fashion and habits often associated with men in tech.
The flyer specifically called out those fleece or puffy, Patagonia vests that are so often worn by this particular subset of the population, informing wearers that "You look like a Republican." The flyer included a picture of men wearing the vests with a slash through it.
The poster was also clear to point out that this group needs to stop commuting to work by car, as San Francisco is "the second best city in the U.S. for public transportation," said the flyer. "Personal automobiles are wasteful and outdated," including electric vehicles.
This group also needs to stop "talking about how bad crime and homelessness is in SF," and that these types of comments make the speaker sound "racist," said the flyer.
The poster also criticized anyone who went out to socialize or live in the marina, asserting that "only Republicans go out in the Marina," featuring a map of the neighborhood with a slash crossing it out.
Finally, the flyer finished by admonishing this population for not embodying the local culture. "You live in San Francisco now, it's time to start acting like it."
While some commenters on the Instagram post published by Stuart Schuffman found the post funny, some were upset that someone in San Francisco would so aggressively single out a group.
"'San Franciscans' favorite sport: telling other 'San Franciscans' that they're doing it wrong or are not authentic enough to live in San Francisco," wrote one user last week.
But others saw the humor in the situation. "Vest? Leave Marty McFly alone!!!" One user commented, referencing the iconic look sported by Michael J. Fox in the 1980s classic movie, Back to the Future.
And others agreed with the poster. "Trashing the Marina is fair game. Same now as ever. It has a slightly higher douchebag ratio than the rest of SF, which itself has a higher than average douchbag ratio since the 90's thanks to tech. This older than average local has spoken," wrote one user.
Currently, it's unclear who posted these flyers, and how many there are.
