A victim of a San Jose hit-and-run crash earlier this month succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital on Wednesday.

The hit and run occurred on Aug. 4 at approximately 4:58 p.m. in the 2000 block of Monterey Rd., the San Jose Police Department reported.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was walking across the northbound lanes of Monterey Rd., outside of the crosswalk, when a silver 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer hit him. He was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries where he died two weeks later.

The driver, Roberto Figueroa, fled the scene immediately after the collision.

Officers later arrested Figueroa at a home in San Jose.

He was booked for an alleged felony hit and run.
