According to spokeswoman Kathryn Horn, the crew’s main objective was to access the gate valve to shut off the active flow of water.

The first call about the water main break came in at about 12:45 a.m.

Nearly 200 customers in the area have been impacted.

The water main that broke is an eight-inch asbestos and cement water main that was installed back in the 1950s, according to Hon.
