SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS RADIO) – One of the hottest tickets in the San Francisco Bay Area is one to Wednesday night’s San Jose Earthquakes game.
The Earthquakes are hosting Inter Miami CF – which features international soccer star, Lionel Messi.
Soccer fans and pros have been excited for the chance to see him at PayPal Park and around San Jose.
“He does things you don’t expect a player to be able to do,” Saul – a youth soccer coach from Santa Rosa – told KCBS Radio’s Mike DeWald. “I’ll probably cry.”
“The fact that he’s still doing this at this age is remarkable,” Bay FC coach Albertin Montoya told KCBS Radio. “I first saw him play when he was 17 years old. I was coaching a youth team at the time and those players are still talking about it to this day.”
With Messi expected to play in the 7:30 p.m. match, ticket prices to get into the stadium have ballooned.
Tickets early Wednesday afternoon were going for as little as $700 – just for standing room only. Prices have cooled off as the day has gone on, with the cheapest hovering around $575 each – but only if you are planning to buy two. Solo tickets are still north of $625.
A typical ticket for other upcoming Earthquakes home games range between $20 and $40 each.
