Truckee police initially alerted residents to the blaze in the Glenshire neighborhood at approximately 11:57 a.m. on July 7. The fire eventually grew to 12 acres.
Mandatory evacuations were issued for all residents and businesses in the area, and the Legacy Trail between Glenshire and downtown Truckee was forced to close.
The evacuation order was lifted at 7:50 a.m. on Friday and all businesses in the area were allowed to reopen. The Legacy Trail was reopened at 10:30 a.m.
Following a coordinated investigation between police and CAL FIRE, authorities determined that the fire was started by an adult female. The woman allegedly set several spot fires, which resulted in the larger wildfire. The suspect admitted to authorities she set the fires intentionally and on Thursday night was booked into custody with numerous arson charges pending. Her identity was not released.
Officials asked the public to stay out of the area as cews continue to mop up and strengthen fire lines.
