Police are conducting an investigation after a woman was robbed of a French Bulldog at gunpoint in Oakland on Friday.
Merlyn, a gray Frenchie with dark spots, was taken at around 6:05 p.m. when suspects approached the woman walking him near the intersection of Valdez and 24th streets, KPIX reported.

The woman told the station that the suspects came up to her on foot, robbed her at gunpoint of Merlyn and fled the scene in a car in the direction of Whole Foods.

Oakland police are checking for surveillance videos to identify the suspects.
The popularity and commodity of French Bulldogs has recently spiked, as more robberies of the expensive pups are being reported throughout the United States.
The dog has not yet been recovered. KCBS Radio has reached out to Oakland police for a comment, but has not heard back.
