The woman told police an SUV stopped on the 6300 block of Eastlawn Street near 63rd Avenue while she was walking home from a store at around 10:15 p.m. She told police a man inside the car, whom she didn't recognize, said something to her before shooting her in the abdomen.

The woman was able to get herself to a nearby hospital.

Police are still looking for the suspect, who fled the scene after the shooting. Authorities are also trying to figure out the motive, according to the paper, considering whether it is a case of mistaken identity.

Crime Stoppers of Oakland and police have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information related to the shooting can call Oakland Police at 510-238-3426.
