Pet owners in Woodside are being warned about a likely mountain lion attack late last Wednesday.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office found an injured dog after an apparent encounter with the animal around 10 p.m. Wednesday near Raymundo Dr. and Marva Oaks Dr. It’s not clear if the dog survived.
"When they looked out the window, they saw a mountain lion had the dog by the neck," the sheriff's office said in a statement to SFGATE. "One of the owners got into her car and drove onto the lawn to scare the mountain lion off, the sheriff's office said."
A search for the mountain lion responsible for the attack was unsuccessful.
Anyone who sees a mountain lion in the area is asked to call the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office at 650-363-4911.
