Authorities said a tree worker had to be airlifted to a hospital after he was seriously injured when a falling tree hit him near Pescadero on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident happened not far from Butano State Park at about 3:30 p.m., CAL FIRE tweeted.
Firefighters had to use a rope system to get the victim roughly 300 feet down a steep hill before loading him into a medical helicopter.
He was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment shortly before 5 p.m.
It's not clear why the tree fell. The victim's name has not been released.
The San Mateo County Fire Department, Coastside Fire Department, Loma Mar Fire Department and San Mateo County Sheriff's Office all responded to the incident.
The incident took place just outside the CZU Lightning Complex burn area.
