A woman who ran over police officers in Louisiana was arrested Monday and charged with attempted first-degree murder.

According to the Natchitoches Police Department, officers arrived at a Super 1 Foods store at around 2:30 p.m. Monday after getting a call about a theft in progress. Once in the store they located the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Lakendra (also spelled Lekendra by police) Bolton. She allegedly ran from police to her vehicle in the store’s parking lot.

“While officers were attempting to place her under arrest she drove over them with her vehicle and fled the area towards South Drive,” said police.

Eventually officers caught up with her on South Drive and Bolton led them on a short pursuit. During that pursuit, she attempted to ram an officer. At the end of the chase, Bolton allegedly crashed head on with another police vehicle.

One of the officers was transported to a Rapides Parish hospital with a serious lower body injury. Two of the officers were transported to the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center, one with a minor lower body injury and one with a minor upper body injury.

Bolton was charged with three counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of resisting an officer, aggravated flight from an officer, felony hit and run, reckless operation of a vehicle, theft and several bench warrants. She was sent to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

“This investigation is ongoing and the Natchitoches Police Department will release more details as they become available,” said police.
