While video of students running for cover circulates on social media, reports surfaced that an active shooter near the student union at Florida State University in Tallahassee left at least five victims hospitalized and two dead.

Two shooters were reportedly involved, one who was captured and the other who was killed. WFTV in Orlando, Fla., reported that it learned from law enforcement sources that five people are dead and four others are injured during the incident. However, these numbers were updated to five injured and two killed as of Thursday afternoon, per CNN.

The grim scene first became apparent when the university posted an alert on X, writing "An active shooter has been reported in the area of Student Union. Police are on scene or on the way. Continue to seek shelter and await further instructions. Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures."

The Tallahassee Democrat reported that sirens could be heard "all over downtown Tallahassee."

An employee in the Bellamy Building told a local reporter the building was on lockdown and law enforcement was evacuating people floor by floor.

This comes after least three teenagers were shot in a Dallas high school Tuesday, and a fourth student was grazed by a bullet.

Florida State has been the scene of previous violence as three were shot by a graduate of the law there in November 2014. That shooting happened in the library.
