A 25-year-old California man armed with an assault rifle was arrested in Iowa while on his way to Washington, D.C. "to kill persons in power."
Kuachua Brillion Xiong is accused of having a "hit list" with the names of politicians and public figures, including President Joe Biden, former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Xiong, of Merced, was pulled over in Cass County, Iowa, on December 21 after a police officer witnessed him driving aggressively, weaving in and out of traffic and speeding on I-80, according to a criminal complaint.
Xiong told the officer that he was traveling to D.C. and that he disapproved of the government "due to the sex abuse of children, some of which that has occurred by President Biden," the complaint states. He had an AR-15-type rifle, loaded magazines, boxes of ammunition and a grappling hook, authorities said.
Police also found money in the vehicle "earmarked" for Xiong's funeral expenses, and his GPS was set for the White House, according to the complaint.
Under further questioning by the Secret Service, Xiong said he had been working at a grocery store to maintain his "cover" until he was "called upon by God to combat evil demons in the White House."
"Xiong believes that he is the only person remaining who can free the United States of evil and it is necessary for him to kill those in positions of power. It is at this time Xiong began assembling the equipment needed to carry out his plan to kill those in power: an assault rifle, assault rifle magazines, ammunition, body armor, medical supplies, dark clothing, grappling hook, food, and cash," the document continues.
Xiong went on to tell investigators that he left his home near Sacramento three days earlier with the intention to drive straight to the White House to kill those in power.
He elaborated further, according to the complaint, and told investigators he downloaded TikTok videos on his phone to compile a list of individuals he intended to kill. Authorities said his "hit list" included approximately 100 videos.
The complaint goes on to say that Xiong provided investigators with a drawing of the White House grounds, including a perceived "weak spot" he identified during his pre-attack research. He explained that he would use the grappling hook to climb over the perimeter fencing before gaining access to the White House to kill those on his "hit list," according to the complaint.
Authorities said Xiong indicated that nothing would stop him from carrying out his plan and that if released, he would immediately continue to D.C.
"Xiong stated that he has no intention of returning to California to see his family because he plans on dying while fighting evil demons at the White House," the complaint said.
Xiong is currently being detained for making a threat against a former president, which is a federal crime.
