A California man hiking in Hawaii was rescued after falling approximately 25 feet off a trail on Friday, according to Kauai County.
The 67-year-old man's current condition is unknown.
Authorities responded to a report the morning of July 23 of an injured male visitor who attempted to hike down Wailua Falls, located on the island of Kauai. Shortly after the beginning of the hike, the elderly man slipped, fell off the trail and appeared to suffer multiple head injuries, the county said.
First responders used a multipurpose device hauling system to extract the hiker around noon and transported him to a local hospital.
The report did not specify where in California the man is from.
According to Go Hawaii, the state's tourism website, Wailua Falls is "located at the south end of the Wailua River," where it "cascades into two streams, dropping 80 feet below."
Known for spectacular views, the falls have been used as multiple film locations and also featured in the opening credits of the long running TV show "Fantasy Island."
