A California man known as the "Doobie Smoker" has been arrested by federal agents for participating in the pro-Trump siege on the U.S. Capitol last month.

Eduardo Nicolas Alvear Gonzalez, 32, of Ventura, California was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals at an apartment in Virginia Beach earlier this week. He was spotted wearing American flag pants and smoking marijuana during the deadly insurrection January 6.

In a video of the siege posted to YouTube, Gonzalez was asked why he was smoking week at the Capitol, to which is replied: "Freedom."

A criminal complaint filed in federal court and obtained by the Los Angeles Times said Gonzalez was seen in another video yelling "It’s time to smoke weed in here!" The paper reported Gonzalez live streamed on Zoom the day after the riot where "he narrates numerous photos and videos taken in the Capitol and talks about going in there to ‘take our country back.’"

Multiple witnesses reportedly identified him, including a family member.

Gonzalez is facing charges of knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds. He’s due for a remote hearing in U.S. District Court in Norfolk on Friday.
