On Tuesday, Judge Regina Chu ruled that cameras and audio recording devices will be allowed in the courtroom in the manslaughter case of Kim Potter, a former Brooklyn Center police officer.

Potter, who fired a shot that killed Daunte Wright last April, has claimed that she meant to fire her taser, not knowing her handgun was in her hand.

Chu shared that her decision is based solely on public health and safety concerns, given the ongoing pandemic. She stated that it had nothing to do with the recent protest at her home.

Jury selection is set to begin in three weeks for the case.
