The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a recall for 84,000 woom children’s bikes that were found to have faulty handlebars that can fall off while being ridden.

The recall was issued for all woom Original bike models manufactured by the company from 2018 to 2021, the CPSC recall said.

The bikes are designed for children ages 18 months to 14 years old. The affected bikes were sold in the U.S. and Canada, the agency shared in its recall. The bikes were priced from $200 to $530 and were sold at local stores and Amazon.com.

There have been 77 reports of woom handlebar stems becoming detached or loosened. Of the reports, 19 instances resulted in injuries, including bruises, cuts, and abrasions.

The company shared on its website that the recall was due to the bikes having a “one-bolt stem clamp design.”

The bikes came in five colors, red, green, blue, purple, and yellow, and have the word “woom” written on them.

Anyone who has one of the bikes is advised to “stop using the recalled bicycles and contact woom Bikes USA for a free repair kit.

The Austin-based bike company said it would be “contacting all known purchasers directly,” according to the CPSC.
