Chrysler is recalling more than 330,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees over an issue with the steering wheel that could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicle.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the vehicles may have upper control arm pinch bolts that were damaged during vehicle assembly.
As a result, the upper control arm joint and steering knuckle can separate, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle without warning and increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall includes certain 2022-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L.
The automaker said it is not aware of any crashes or injuries related to the issue. However, it has received one customer assistance record, 18 warranty claims, and one field report potentially related to the issue as of January 24.
Chrysler will inform the owners of recalled vehicles by mid-April and dealers will replace the upper control arm pinch bolts, free of charge.
As many as 338,238 vehicles are affected by the recall.
