Red cups with crushed ice, red and white table clothes, your own Personal Pan Pizza in a searing hot iron skillet, garlicky breadsticks, a salad bar and more.
Those are just some of the memories Millennials and older generations have of Pizza Hut.
But could the good old days make a rebound? The company is now embracing that nostalgia with Pizza Hut Classic (including a location in Sandusky, Michigan!).
One Facebook user posted that his hometown Pizza Hut was transformed into the Classic store.
It had the classic interior, old logo and even the lunch buffet.
“Didn't know this was a thing, tried to capture as much of the aesthetic as I could here,” the man said. That post got nearly 97,000 likes and over 5 million views on X (formally Twitter).
A spokesperson for Pizza Hut tells KDKA Radio the company is “currently on a transformation journey with our restaurant assets to bring that classic, welcoming Pizza Hut ambiance but in a way that is fresh and modern.”
That spokesperson hinted that a “new prototype” is expected to show up in the Pittsburgh area some time in 2024.
“We love that people are enjoying our Pizza Hut Classic remodel and are proud of the Pizza Hut legacy of welcoming guests into our restaurants to enjoy iconic pizza,” Chelsea Mack with Pizza Hut added.
No word on if there will be a classic arcade game near the front register.
Now all we need is a large pizza and a rental from Blockbuster video and we’re ready for a Friday night in 1998.
